| Yep!^^ You got the right one! ;D
In japanese class today, we covered particles in the sentences. Particles are words that help define what we're talking about. They define subjects, actions, objects, etc. For us, they'd be words like "and" "to" "is". That kind of stuff. Well, this will count as review for me so here are some particles for you all.
"wa" (Hiragana for it is "ha") : commonly used in identifying a noun. Watashi "WA" Elliot desu. I "AM" Elliot.
Ga: Its another form of "wa". its more commonly used. It can also be used as "watachi wa, neko GA daisuki desu" Which means "i love cats"
No: A possessive particle. "watashi NO neko desu" "MY cat" If it was "wa" the sentence would be "I am cat" It makes no sense right? So after you put the subject, if you put "no" then your saying that it belongs to them.
Ni: Ni is used in many situations. Its normally used when time is involved.
Wo: Its used before an action verb. "Neko WO tabemasu" "I EAT a cat" Now, if its past tense.."Neko wo tabemaSHITA" It would translate out to "I ATE a cat". Either way, it implies that you did something, or you are doing something.

| Alright lets see....Ni is used for time so...
so, since my school computers are awesome, i'll type in japanese.
今の、なんじですか。 ima no, nanji desu ka? What time is it right now?
...crap, i totally forget the time unit xD;; I have japanese in about an hour, i'll post something later today Dx but now that i can type japanese....=3
Kanji lesson!
待って-matte-wait. the first kanji is used as an implement of time. まって 月-tsuki- moon つき 日-ni- sun に 本-hon- book ほん 今-ima- now(today, its used for the present time sense) いま 水-mizu-water みず 黄色-kiiro-yellow きいろ 青-ao-blue あお 赤-aka-red あか 緑-midori-green みどり 水色-mizuiro-light blue. みずいろ 止まれ-tomare-stop (commonly seen on stop signs) とまれ 私-watashi-me わたし 自分-jibun-myself じぶん お前-omae- you (this one is very rude and condecending) おまえ 前-mae-infront まえ 左-hidari-left ひだり 右-migi-right みぎ 下-shita-down した 上-ue-up うえ
Alright^^ this is all for now~ =D (More like, this is all i can remember and i should get working on my social work xD;; *is in social class right now*)

| Alright!!! I decided to be actually useful for once!!! I've been meaning to do this for a while. I got a useful sheet around the begginning of the semester, and ive been meaning to type it out for you guys. Here it is.
Okay, so when conjugating verbs, the dreaded form is the "Te" form. So in class, i was taught a song to remember it. I'll type it out. (Te form song applies ONLY to the "U" verbs) い ち り --> って (i chi ri --> tte) び み に --> んで (bi mi ni --> nde) きーーーー> て (ki-->te) ぎーーーー> で (gi--de) しーーーー> して (shi-->shite) きーーーー> きて (ki-->kite) いきますー> いって (ikimasu-->itte)
If you are wondering about the second "ki" in there, if a verb is just "kimasu", then it would turn into "Kite"

| *u* I have been lurking on this thread for a while and I was thinking about actually trying to start learning the language because I've always wanted to learn the language but I didn't know where to begin and I always lose motivation and determination to learn the language.
But Elliot all your posts about tips and lessons, etc etc has really motivated me to learn the language! 8D
I was just wondering, does anybody know a good website to learn the basics of Japanese? (like Hello, Goodmorning, etc etc) ^^'

| @Leah, I guess it partly depends on why you want to learn Japanese? I've been trying to learn mainly so I can read manga, so I haven't paid as much attention to the common phrases, like Good Afternoon and so forth.
I started with learning Hiragana and Katakana syllabaries, that way I could actually read the Japanese without needing a transliteration. It makes it easier to make sense of any other Japanese resources you find. I used "Japanese Hiragana for Beginners" and "Japanese Katakana for Beginners" by Timothy G Stout. They have flashcards to help you memorize the syllables.
I have some other resources and tips on my LJ: http://gommyommy.livejournal.com/tag/learning%20japanese
The Tae Kim Grammar Guide is also helpful: http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/grammar

| ^ Yeah, it's the same with me, I mostly want to learn the language to be able to read/write it. And also being a big fan of some idol groups I would like to be able to understand what they are saying without having to read translations or subtitles. I also would like to visit Japan one day and be able to communicate with others. XD;
Ah I see, thanks for the links, I'll check them out! C:

Veh, I fail XD Hahahah! not bad! not bad at all! You're saying that your name is Shelby, and that you really like cats right?^^ Although if i remember correctly, using "atashi" does mean "I" but i forget if its casual, or if its showing that you think of yourself better than everyone else, OR if it means that you're showing disrespect to yourself. "Watashi" is the common way, but they both mean the same thing! >w< And inbetween "neko" and "daisuki" i think there should be a "ga" in there o.o But other than that, Well done^^ You seem to know some of the basics! @Leah: Awww good^^ Im glad to hear that. If you want any additional knowledge i can try typing out basic greetings and words if you'd like! Just ask me what you would like to know!! And yeah, being able to understand it will really help you understand those things a little better xD;;; And I too, would like to visit Japan 8D so i guess we're in the same boat!^^ @Reim: oh right! Your sound effect guide is on here too! Sweet! Thank you for the links!!^^

I was wondering does Japanese have like, uhm a sentence structure?
Like for Spanish it has a sentence structure, for example... The blonde hair. El pelo rubio. In Spanish the adjective (blonde - rubio) is usually after the noun (hair - pelo).
Or does it depend on what you are trying to say/write in Japanese? I hope I make sense. xD *is bad at explaining things*
Yeah *u* Japan seems like a beautiful country!
