Gundam Series

This is basically a topic where you can talk about ANY of the Gundam series.

And when I say 'Gundam Series' I do NOT mean Eureka 7 or Code Geass. I mean the ones that have GUNDAM in the title. xD

I personally love the Gundam series. Despite only have seen 2 series (3 if you count one of them as a sequal).

I first got into the Gundam franchise when I saw Gundam SEED airing on TV. I loved it and watched it all the time (even after they took it on and off the air and repeated it). Granted SEED was a bit slow on starting, but once it hit the half way-ish point it got REALLY good! <33

Then a few years down the road, Gundam SEED got a sequal called Gundam SEED Destiny. Naturally I was excited, though it pissed me off that Kira wouldn't be the main character anymore. Instead it was a guy named Shinn who would (though we still got all the former cast so I was cool with it). Yeah that kinda went out the window...not even half way through the season the 'main character' suddenly became Athrun (originally from SEED)...Like what was the point of making Shinn the main character if you weren't gonna stick to his story? So Destiny was mostly crap cuz half the series was pointless, but still good on occasion.

Then just a few days ago, I decided to try watching Gundam 00...

I was addicted to it faster then I was addicted to Hamtaro as a kid. Unlike SEED which took a while to get going with the plot, 00 started right off the bat with the main character already on his supposed 'team' and doing what they do best. This allowed for more plot development and action. Though by doing that I noticed some characters kinda got jibbed in the 'character/pairing development' stage of the story. xD;

Overall though 00 had so many interesting aspects to it, a lot of which I noticed where based off former Gundam series. Like in 00, the popular robot thing from Gundam SEED and Destiny called 'Haro' appeared. The tough lady captin from SEED and Destiny was also here. As well as the 'guardian/father-like' Gundam like Poilet from SEED/Destiny; and the singing heroine, pink haired chicks, weird clone/twin/super human-like people all from pervious Gundam series were all in here.

Gundam 00 was basically like a combination of all the best aspects from pervious series put together into one epic show. 00 also gained a movie as well thats basically...well....

The movie is basically if Flubber was made of metal and evil. xD;

I've also heard that Gundam SEED will be getting a movie sometime, but the date is to be announced. Either way I hope they dub it over as well as the 00 Movie. I've seen the 00 movie in Japanese, but I was rather fond of the dubbed voices in both SEED and 00. Plus I want them on my anime shelf! 8D

Yeah i really liked Eureka 7's art style. and the story too. it was a cute love story x3

The very first gundam series i watched was Gundam seed. great series. ive also watched Destiny. i didnt mind it that mind it that much! i liked it actually.

I think Destiny's only problem was they made Shinn out to be the main character, but didn't stick with him at all. If they had, it likely would have been a lot better. xD;

I think I perfer Gundam 00 over SEED/Destiny though now. Despite its lack of character and pairing development, the plot was gone into a lot more then the SEED series was. Plus it added in aspects from SEED and Destiny that were epic. x3

Oh btw has anyone else ever noticed how almost all Gundam series have some of the most addicting Openings and Endings ever? xD

Like I still can't stop watching this one from Season 2 of Gundam 00

I don't remember if you saw Gundam SEED/Destiny dubbed, but a main character named Tieria in Gundam 00 has Athrun's dubbed voice. XD

Ironically they have somewhat similar personalities (kinda). Plus semi-long hair and glasses...oh and Purple is his colour. xD

@Gilbert: Yeah, you have a point there. they ended up focusing on athrun too much i think. i dont remember it that well so correct me if im wrong.

Yeah it kinda dropped Shinn and focused on Athrun more in Destiny.

I wouldn't have minded it if they had done that from the start though. xD

I agree~<3 i love Athrun. i like Kira too, but i find it odd to like a character that shares the same name as me i dunno why.....not to mention that his character is kinda /dry/. you know? not much to him.

Cuz I think almost all the characters in the Gundam Series are kinda /dry/. Idk for some odd reason for the sake of plot or just having more action, characters seem to be jibbed on character development or just personality in general to me. xD;
